Height Comparison

The British Royal Family comprises Queen Elizabeth II and her close relations. There is no strict legal or formal definition of who is or is not a member of the British royal family. Many members support the Queen in undertaking public engagements and often pursue charitable work and interests

The Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh married Princess Elizabeth in 1947, five years before she became Queen, and was the longest-serving royal consort in British history.


1. Queen Elizabeth ii - ( 5' 4" )


Born: - 1926

Elizabeth II is Queen of the United Kingdom and 15 other Commonwealth realms. Elizabeth was born in Mayfair, London, as the first child of the Duke and Duchess of York.

Her father rose the privileged position on the resignation of his sibling King Edward VIII in 1936, from which time she was the main beneficiary hypothetical. Sovereign Elizabeth II is 5ft 4in, making her little in illustrious circles however better than expected from one side of the country to the other. 

In spite of being a lot more limited than her significant other (Prince Philip, interestingly, is 6ft), the Queen once in a while wears high heels, inclining toward reasonable loafers with probably a two-heel block heel.


2. Princess Beatrice - ( 5' 4" )



Born: - 1988

Princess Beatrice of York is the elder daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York.

She married property tycoon Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi at The Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor, in July 2020.

Tallness shrewd, Princess Beatrice takes after her grandma and is 5feet 4inches. The humble illustrious regularly provides herself with somewhat of a lift with a wedge, block heel or stiletto, generally around the four-inches mark.


3. Princes Eugenie -  ( 5' 5" )



Born: - 1990

Princess Eugenie is the younger daughter of Prince Andrew and Sarah, Duchess of York. Her full title is Her Royal Highness Princess Eugenie of York and she is 10th in line to the throne.

Like her sister Princess Beatrice, she has no official surname, but uses "York". She married her long-term boyfriend Jack Brooksbank at Windsor Castle on 12 October 2018.
she is an inch taller the her sister Beatrice and likes to supplement her height with a heel. She isn’t afraid to go too high, often stepping out in up to four extra inches.



4. Princess Anne - ( 5' 6" )


Born: - 1950

Princess Royal is the Queen's second child and only daughter of Queen and Prince Philip, seems to follow her mother for height, standing at 5'6. When she was born she was third in line to the throne, but is now 15th. She was given the title Princess Royal in June 1987.

Princess Anne has married twice; her first husband Captain Mark Phillips is the father of her two children, Peter and Zara, while her second is Vice-Admiral Timothy Laurence.



5. Zara tindall - ( 5' 6" )



Born: - 1981

Zara Tindall followed her mother and father with a highly successful riding career - including winning a silver medal at the London 2012 Olympics. She married former England rugby player Mike Tindall in 2011 and the couple had their first child, Mia Grace, in 2014. 

she stands 5' 6" & spends much of her time in paddocks and fields, when it comes to footwear, she often opts for riding boots, flats or trainers. She does love her heels for formal events, though!



6. Meghan Markle - ( 5' 7" )



Born: - 1981

Duchess of Sussex is an American member of the British royal family and a former actress. Markle was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Her acting career began while she was studying at Northwestern University.

The Duchess of Sussex, born Rachel Meghan Markle, married Prince Harry at St George's Chapel, Windsor in May 2018. The Duke and Duchess have one child, Archie Mountbatten-Windsor.

We all know Meghan loves her high heels - and she likes them really high! A big fan of the Italian shoe brand Aquazzura, most of the royal's heels are from 3½ in to 4.5½ in height. At 5ft 6, Meghan is shorter than her husband Prince Harry, who's 6ft 1. 



7. Camilla - ( 5' 8" )



Born: - 1947

Duchess of Cornwall, is the second wife of Charles, Prince of Wales, heir apparent to the British throne. A second marriage for both of them, they married on 9 April 2005.

Camilla married her longtime boyfriend, Andrew Parker Bowles, in 1973 and in 1981, Prince Charles married Lady Diana Spencer. Although they went on to marry other people, Camilla and Prince Charles were romantically involved for 25 years. 

Many will be surprised to learn that the Duchess of Cornwall stands at 5ft 8in. Prince Charles is 5ft 10in and it’s rare that you’ll see his wife wearing anything higher than two-inch heels.




8. Kate Middleton -  ( 5' 9" )


Born: - 1982

Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge GCVO, is a member of the British royal family. Her husband, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, is second in the line of succession to the British throne, making Catherine a likely future queen consort.

The Duchess of Cambridge’s heel height of choice tends to be about 3.5 inches, and she likes them lean and elegant. Kate measures 5ft 9in so, in her favourite Rupert Sanderson heels, she’s often just over 6ft.




9. Princess Diana - ( 5' 10" )


Born: - 1961

Diana, Princess of Wales was a member of the British royal family. She was the first wife of Charles, Prince of Wales the heir apparent to the British throne and was the mother of Prince William and Prince Harry. 

Princess Diana was famously 5ft 10in, the same height as Prince Charles. High heels weren’t en vogue in the 80s and 90s so her choice of heel tended to be low, at the most two inches.



10. Prince Charles - ( 5' 10" )

Born: - 1948

The Prince of Wales is the Queen's eldest son and first in line to the throne.
He married to Lady Diana Spencer On 29 July 1981, who became the Princess of Wales. The couple had two sons, William and Harry. The princess was died in a car crash in Paris On 31 August 1997.

On 9 April 2005 Prince Charles married Camilla Parker Bowles. he is the oldest and longest-serving heir apparent in British history.
on 9 April 2021 his father Prince Philip died at the age 99, Charles also inherited the title Duke of Edinburgh.

Prince Charles is reportedly 5ft 10, while Camilla is thought to be 5ft 8in.
He was the same height as first wife Princess Diana.



11. Prince Philip - ( 5' 11" )

Born: - 1921

Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh was a member of the British royal family as the husband of Elizabeth II. Philip was born into the Greek and Danish royal families. He was born in Greece, but his family was exiled from the country when he was eighteen months old. 


The Queen may be one of the shorter members of the royal family, but Prince Philip, 98, towers over his wife of more than 70 years at 6ft tall.

Perhaps his height was one of the things that attracted Prince Philip to the Queen, who is said to have been taken with the strapping Royal Navy cadet when they met. 



12. Prince Andrew - ( 6' 0" )


Born: - 1960

The Duke of York, eighth in line to the throne, was the third child of the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh - but the first to be born to a reigning monarch for 103 years.

He was created the Duke of York on his marriage to Sarah Ferguson, who became Duchess of York, in 1986. They had two daughters - Beatrice, in 1988, and Eugenie, in 1990. In March 1992 it was announced the duke and duchess were to separate. They divorced in 1996.

 Like his father Philip, Prince Andrew is believed to be 6ft. And according to Google , Prince Edward is 1.83 metres tall - making him 6ft as well.


13. Prince Edward -( 6' 0" )


Born: - 1964

Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex and Viscount Severn on his marriage to Sophie Rhys-Jones in 1999. The couple have two children, Lady Louise, born in 2003 and James, Viscount Severn, born in 2007.


After a brief period with the Royal Marines, the prince formed his own TV production company. He now supports the Queen in her official duties and carries out public engagements for charities. The birth of Princess Eugenie's son August in February saw him move down one place to become 12th in line to the throne.

At 56 years old, Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex height is 6 ft 0 in (183.0 cm).



14. Peter Philip - ( 6' 0" )

Born: - 1977

Peter Phillips is the eldest of the Queen's grandchildren. He married Canadian Autumn Kelly in 2008 and together they have two daughters, Savannah, born in 2010, and Isla, born in 2012.
The children of the Princess Royal do not have royal titles, as they are descended from the female line. Mark Phillips refused the offer of an earldom when he married so their children do not have courtesy titles.At 43 years old, Peter Phillips height is 6 ft 0 in (183.0 cm).



15. Prince Harry - ( 6' 0" )


Born: - 1984

He is the younger son of Charles, Prince of Wales and Diana, Princess of Wales, he is sixth in the line of succession to the British throne.

Prince Harry trained at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst and went on to become a lieutenant in the Army, serving as a helicopter pilot.


He married US actress Meghan Markle on 19 May, 2018, at Windsor Castle. In January 2020, the royal couple said they would step back as "senior" royals and divide their time between the UK and North America. They said they intended to "work to become financially independent".

Prince Harry - 6ft - three inches above the average height for a man in the UK. The Duke of Sussex, 35, is just two inches shorter than his brother, but still on the taller end of the scale.


16. Prince William - ( 6' 3" )

Born: - 1982

Prince William is the elder son of the Prince of Wales and Diana, Princess of Wales, and is second in line to the throne.

The duke was 15 when his mother died. He went on to study at St Andrews University, where he met his future wife, Kate Middleton. The couple were married in 2011.


On his 21st birthday he was appointed a Counsellor of State - standing in for the Queen on official occasions. He and his wife had their first child, George, in July 2013, their second, Charlotte, in 2015 and third, Louis, in 2018.

Prince William is taller than his brother Prince Harry,  and is believed to be 6'3", making him the tallest member of the senior royals.
