There are various ways to transfer files in Symbian, such as through USB, bluetooth, MMS infrared etc. There are many apps to transfer files through wlan,but only Few of them works. Here is one of the method that I recently discovered which works in all type of Symbian devices. SypFTP is it Symbian FTP server app which can transfer files between Android and Symbian via FTP based on Wi-Fi connection.

BEFORE STARTING

*You must have PyS60 runtime on board. * sypFTP 0.1.0 for PyS60 1.9.7 (aka 2.0 too) * sypFTP 0.1.0 for PyS60 1.9.6. Install these two apps in Your Symbian device.

What's New in This Release:

· Repeat support in 4-way directional pad

· Lot of memory leaks in the interpreter code is fixed.

· appuifw.app.track_allocations can be set if the interpreter should track all memory allocations and then free the memory which was not explicitly released before application exit. To debug memory leaks in 3rd party extension modules set the value to false.

· All the Pyds that have zero UID will be assigned with the applications UID at the time of packaging. As a result, Python applications can now be symbian signed. This opens the door for submitting Python applications to OVI Store.

About SypFTP

A Symbian Python FTP server tool. Allows you to view the contents of directories and upload files from or to a server. Be sure that you have Symbian S60 Platform phone with Wi-Fi on board. Over GPRS or 3G network connecting to your phone's FTP will not work!

Now take your Android phone and turn on Mobile Hotspot.

After successfully installing both sis files, open the Sypftp and you will see select your default access point option. Select your Wi-Fi hotspot as your default access point and enter your Wi-Fi password. Now it will show

Now the ES File Explorer app click the side tray and then select "Network". Here you will see various option such as LAN, Cloud drive, FTP, Android TV, Bluetooth, view on PC, sender etc. Click the FTP. Click the FTP option and create a "New FTP server",

Fill the following

Server :- 192.168.XXX.XX (Fill the Exact Host server address which you got from the SypFTP app, Except ":" & last four digits)
Port :- 8545 (last four numbers of the Host address)
Mode :- passive
Username :- user
Password :- 12345
Anonymous :- uncheck
Encoding :- Auto
Display Name :- Synisoft

And click OK, Now you will see a ftp folder. Browse the folder it includes all the directories from your Symbian phone, Now you can Manage your files with cut, copy, paste, rename, and compress operations through WLAN Network.
